So, What Does a Visit England 4-Star Rating Mean?
Visit England doesn’t hand out stars lightly. Properties are mystery-inspected and scored across cleanliness, facilities, grounds, accommodation and customer journey – so you know the rating reflects real-life experience of the holiday park or attraction in question.
A 4-Star rating requires a 75-86% overall quality score (with cleanliness at least matching the overall rating). Billing Aquadrome landed at the top end of the 4-star zone with an overall rating of 81%, and then went above and beyond in several key sections.
The Inspection Highlights & Why Families Feel the Difference
Sparkling standards where it matters most
We make an effort to ensure everyone’s holiday experience is hygienic and squeaky clean. On the audit, our cleanliness achieved a 5-Star level (90%), with inspectors noting very good standards in the bar and dining venues, arcade, launderette and shower blocks. Family changing areas by the pool were highlighted as clean and well-maintained – ideal when you’re juggling towels, goggles and excited little ones!
Activities that fill your days & your camera roll
We can guarantee you’ll always find something to do on a holiday or short break at Billing Aquadrome.
Recreation, sport and leisure scored an outstanding 94% (5-Star level). This was thanks to breadth and quality. From the indoor pool & splash zone to play areas, adventure golf, fishing lakes, a bicycle pump track, the aqua park, disc golf, miniature railway and a ranger station program (think alpaca encounters & bushcraft), and even axe throwing for adults, you won’t be hearing that dreaded “I’m bored” this holiday.

Dining & downtime with lakeside views

The Venue and The Lake Club were singled out for their stylish interiors, feature lighting and indoor/outdoor seating with water views – perfect for relaxed family meals and evening shows. Our takeaway outlets were also praised for bold, appealing presentations.
Food & drink for any appetite

Accessibility & neuro-inclusive spaces

The inspection highlighted the Zen Den, our calming 24-hour sensory room designed to support children with autism, ADHD and sensory processing differences – part of our focus on ensuring we create holidays that work for everyone.
We take pride in being able to offer such facilities to families when they choose to holiday with Meadow Bay.

Grounds & wayfinding

New easy-to-follow signage, extensive lighting and well-kept landscaping across the holiday park all got positive notes. On top of this, we already have further upgrades planned for next season! This even includes the small touches, such as we plan to refurbish the “Pink and Blues” toilet block to the same standard as the recently refreshed Shelduck Showers. It’s the small touches that make the difference. Billing Aquadrome holiday park has clear signs, easy routes, clean changing areas, and tidy bins that make getting around with kids much smoother in the warmer months.
A Lakeside Setting Made for Making Memories
Nestled among lakes and tranquil woodland in the Nene Valley, Billing Aquadrome gives you that “out in nature” feeling with all the convenience of our (now Visit England 4-star rated) on-park facilities.
Have a walk and look out for squirrels and other cute woodland creatures, hire a bike and reconnect with the kids for a bit, stroll to the pool, join a ranger station activity, sip a coffee by the water, then catch an evening show – no car seat buckling or having to tolerate backseat tantrums required here!
Billing Aquadrome truly does offer the ultimate holiday experience all in one gorgeous location.
