Recommended walks during your dog friendly holiday at Hayling Island Holiday Park in Hampshire

Hayling Island Holiday Park offers unforgettable holidays for you and your dog. Situated in Hampshire and nestled among seaside galore, our beautiful park and surrounding areas are perfect for strolls, play, and relaxation, with everything from on-site walks and scenic trails to family-friendly attractions nearby. In this blog, we explore all the fur-bulous dog walks available for you and your four-legged friend to enjoy!

A walk in the park

If you’re looking for a quick dog walk in the morning or evening, our holiday park is a great way to unleash your dog’s energy without venturing too far. Why not take the kids to the adventure playground with your dog ‒ watch them swing, slide and play, and maybe even throw a stick around with your dog?

Pawesome Palms Bar

Enjoy a scrumptious meal before or after your dog walk at Palms Bar where your four-legged friends are welcome to join you for your meal. Open from 9am till 9pm, we serve a full day of delicious meals that cater for everyone’s taste. Fuel up with a hearty breakfast, savour a relaxing lunch, or end your day with dinner while watching the sunset from our spacious terrace, the ideal spot for you and your doggy to relax and have a refreshing drink or Lavazza coffee. But the best part has to be the classic fish and chips takeaway which you can take with you to the beach on your walk, or enjoy it from the comfort of your caravan ‒ and if the doggies are lucky, they can have a bite too!

Dog friendly local attractions

Hayling Island has so many idyllic, stunning locations that will get your dog’s tails wagging all day long, here’s some of our favourites;

Hayling Island Donkey Sanctuary

Located just a 3-minute drive from the park (you could even walk there with your dog), Hayling Island Donkey Sanctuary allows dogs on a lead to join you to this amazing, cosy day out.

Itchen Valley Country Park

Itchen Valley Country Park is the perfect place to enjoy a day out with your dog. Situated just a 30-minute drive from the park, they welcome caring dog owners to roam around the country park on and off the lead ‒ just check the relevant areas and you’re good to go! They even offer a self service dog washing machine to avoid those muddy paws on the way back to Hayling Island Holiday Park.

Goodwood House

“Dogs have always been at the heart of life at Goodwood” – Goodwood House is a stunning country house and estate covering 4,900 hectares of land in West Sussex. Located 45 mins from the park, they allow dogs to join you on your exploration around their picturesque grounds.

Beautiful beach dog walks around Hayling Island Holiday Park

Dogs are spoilt for choice when it comes to walks on the beach. Offering miles of scenic coastal paths, Hayling Island’s extensive dog friendly beaches are ideal for simple walks, seaside play and splashing in the waves. And let’s not forget about the Hayling Billy Trail, a firm favourite for your dog to run off some energy. The only thing to be aware of are the seasonal restrictions between May 1st and September 30th, where dogs must be kept on a lead on any part of the beach or promenade.

If you’re looking for another alternative, West Wittering Beach is a great option which boasts pristine sands, Blue Flag status, and stunning views. As the crow flies, this beach is only a stones throw away, but to visit you will need to hop in your car for 40 minutes before you reach your destination.

This beach also offers ample parking, water sports, and internationally recognised wildlife. Although West Wittering is dog friendly everywhere along the beach between the end of September to the end of April, it’s worth noting there are restrictions on dogs at other times during the year. In summer (May to September), dogs are allowed on the beach, but only permitted outside groynes 14A-18.

Heading in the opposite direction, you will find Eastney Beach a 30-minute drive away, lined with pastel-coloured beach huts and sand dunes, it’s the perfect place for a dog friendly stroll. There are again some restrictions depending on the time of year and part of the beach you visit.
