Beach fun at Hayling Island Hampshire holiday park

A week in the life: The Cartwrights head to our Hampshire Holiday Park

“There’s nothing quite like a good old family holiday to the British seaside” ‒ some wise words from Melissa, one of our fab holidaymakers, and we couldn’t agree with her more!

Hayling Island, our Hampshire Holiday Park is all about the great British family getaway, a holiday where kids are smiling, parents are unwinding and memories are made left, right and centre. And that’s exactly what the Cartwrights experienced when they holidayed with us earlier this year. We caught up with the mum of three, Melissa, to find out what her family got up to during their 4-night stay!

Monday: Arrival day

“After a busy evening of packing, we all got an early night, and before we knew it, it was morning – the day had arrived!

After a few pitstops on route, we arrived at Hayling Island just after lunch, and were welcomed by the reception team who allowed us to check in earlier than the advertised time, and they even showed us to our accommodation. We opted for the brand new 3-bed Gold Caravan which was perfect for us ‒ and it didn’t disappoint. It had all the amenities we needed, plenty of room, and best of all, they had free wifi which the kids were especially grateful for! Rory got straight onto the iPad, but as soon as I mentioned the Adventure Playground, they were all up out of their seats, raring for a fun adventure. They slid, swung and smiled all afternoon and we took some great photos! To finish the day we looked at the activities schedule over a delicious fish and chips takeaway from Palms Bar.”

Tuesday: Activities all round

“After a fabulous time at the Adventure Playground yesterday afternoon, the kids wanted to get stuck into some more activities. We decided last night to go to the indoor and outdoor swimming pools which I heard great things about! But we needed something to fuel us for the day (Lara and Billy were particularly hangry this morning), so we walked just 5 minutes to Lidl, grabbed the goods and headed back to the caravan for a good old fry up before heading to the pools. And it’s safe to say, the kids LOVED it! They splashed about together and even had a go on the pool Pedalos which got us laughing out loud.

In the evening, we headed to the showbar for some entertainment which was just the cherry on the cake for an already fun-filled day. Fun and Games with Dudley’s Disco was on the schedule and the kids had such a great time.”

Wednesday: Exploring the local area

“As much as this was a much-deserved break for the kids, I wanted to have a bit of downtime exploring too, and Hayling Island has it all, so today was the day to really take in the stunning scenery the island has to offer. We headed down to the beach which gave us amazing views and idyllic coastal walks, which was a lovely break from the streets of London. Rory and Billy had a kick about and Lara played skimming stones on the shore.

After some fun at the beach, we headed to Funland and played at the arcade which was great, and the kids got super competitive! And with a full day by the sea, we couldn’t resist the temptation of another fish and chips takeaway for dinner, and it was just as good the second time around. It was another wholesome day ‒ there’s nothing quite like a good old family holiday to the British seaside.”

Thursday: Lara’s birthday

“To celebrate Lara’s birthday, she wanted to go to the Donkey Sanctuary which was just 1 mile from the park. She adored it, we all did, and as a surprise birthday present we adopted a donkey for her! On the way back, we picked up some essentials from Lidl for a hearty lunch and dinner, and the boys wanted to head back to the indoor swimming pool. So we got on our swimwear and splashed about for a few hours before dinner in the caravan. This was our last night at Hayling Island, so we had to return to the evening entertainment again. I let the kids stay up late and we boogied and danced at the Late Night Soundz event. There were smiles, laughter and some darn good moves all around ‒ what an awesome way to end the holiday!”

Friday: Home time

“It was a sad morning waking up to the fact we had to leave Hayling Island and head back home. We had the best family holiday, one that the kids will remember for a long time. We handed our keys back to the reception and said our goodbyes. We still could have done so much across the island and around the local area, so we will be returning as it was the perfect base. Thank you Hayling Island Holiday Park!”
